Akram Khayatzadeh-Mahani joined the Unit of Globalization and Health Equity in September 2015. She holds a PhD in Health Policy and Management from Manchester Business School in England. Akram’s main research interests lie at the intersection of health science, policy studies and political science. She is particularly interested in the areas of Social Determinants of Health (SDH), Healthy Public Policies and Health in All Policies (HiAP). She has employed diverse theories of policy studies and political science in analysing SDH and HiAP initiatives, and has published or submitted the results to prestigious peer-reviewed journals. Since joining Professor Labonte and his team at the University of Ottawa, she has developed a strong interest in global health issues and is eagerly pursuing this new path.
